Crecer o morir. Incremento patrimonial en la Biblioteca Histórica de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid en los últimos 25 años

Abstract

La Biblioteca Histórica Marqués de Valdecilla, desde su inauguración en 2001, ha incrementado sus fondos con incorporaciones de colecciones institucionales y, en menor medida, por donación o compra, dando respuesta a las diferentes necesidades de protección del patrimonio bibliográfico universitario. Este incremento se ha concretado en la incorporación de libros posteriores a 1800, en la integración de otros tipos documentales (fotografías, materiales docentes) y en la acogida de fondos de investigación. También, en la compra ocasional de fondos de interés para la historia universitaria y en la recepción de donaciones de bibliotecas y fondos personales que testimonian la gran acogida que ha tenido este proyecto de gestión integral del patrimonio bibliográfico y documental.Since its inauguration in 2001, the Marqués de Valdecilla Historical Library has increased its holdings through new acquisition of institutional collections and, to a lesser extent, through donations and purchases, responding to the diverse needs for protecting the university's bibliographic heritage. This growth has resulted in the addition of books published after 1800, the integration of other types of documents (photographs, teaching materials), and the acquisition of research materials. It has also included the occasional purchase of materials of interest to university history and the receipt of donations from personal libraries and archives, which attests the great success of this comprehensive management project for bibliographic and documentary heritage.
